Game 1 Bluesox@Snowbirds

Matt Grosso went four for four with four singles and one RBI as the Bluesox won their second game in a row with an 8-4 victory over the Snowbirds at Palm Springs Stadium during California Winter League action on Tuesday. 

The Bluesox got on the board in the third as Anthony Coromato singled to drive in Ryan Polk to put the Bluesox up 1-0.  The Snowbirds followed  with two runs in the bottom of the inning on a Jack Waterman single that drove in two to make the score 2-1. 

The Sox matched the two run third by the Snowbirds with two of their own in the top of the fourth.  Grosso started the inning off with a single and Randy Wells walked to set up Scott Stidham who singled in drove in a run.  Wells would also come into score in the inning to the put the Bluesox up 3-2.

 The Bluesox would score five more runs in the game.  The seventh inning proved to be their most productive as they gathered four hits and scored three runs. 

Todd Alls had a solid game for the Snowbirds in the losing effort.  Alls went four for four with three singles and a run scored. 

Game 2 A’s@Power

Michael Wallace chipped in with two hits in three at bats, scored twice and drove in run as the A’s beat the Power 9-7 in the second game of a Tuesday double dip at Palm Springs Stadium. 

The Power jumped out to an early lead as the second batter came around to score in the first inning of play.  The second proved to be more productive for the Power as Adrian Martinez and Jeremy Miller would line back-to-back doubles.  Millers’ double knocked in Martinez and Yusuke Inoguchi’s single would knock in Miller.

The A’s scored once in the top of the second and once in the top of the third to stay close.  The Power would put up three runs in the in the fourth gaining two hits and scoring three runs.   That made the score 7-2 in favor of the Power heading into fifth.

In the top of the fifth the A’s plated five runs with Brian Bistagne leading the way with an RBI single.  This tied the score at seven. 

The A’s would make the difference in the top of the seventh as they as started the inning off with back-to-back hits by Jason Martin and Michael Wallace.  With the runners at second and third, Martin scored the go ahead run on a wild pitch and Eric Cordero would drive in another with an infield single.   

The A’s relievers pitched three and a third innings giving up two runs and a hit.  Both runs were charged to Alex Lofton.  Ryan Barret, Jared Power and Bryan Wilde combined for three innings without giving up a hit.  Jared Power would receive the win, his first of the year, while Bryan Wilde earned the save.
