Snowbirds@Bluesox

The Snowbirds lifted their record to 4-5 with a 3-1 win over the Bluesox in game one of a California Winter League double-header Saturday morning at Palm Springs Stadium. 

Andrew Miller pitched four no-hit innings before giving up two hits and a run in the fifth.  Miller earned the win and moved his record to 2-2 on the season as he pitched six complete, giving up three hits, one run, and striking out one.

Kevin Deese supplied the offense for the Snowbirds in the fourth.  With two on and no one out, Deese doubled to right to score two runs. Deese then moved  to third on a groundout before Jeff Ridgeway drove in Deese with a sacrifice fly to center field to make the score 3-0 in favor of the Snowbirds.  Deese ended his day two for three with a double, a triple and two RBIs.

Brandon Brown was effective in his first start for the Bluesox throwing three hitless innings for a no-decision.

A’S@Chill

Derrick Pyles pounded out two hits and four RBIs including an eighth inning homerun, his second of the California Winter League Season, to help lead the Chill to a 11-1 win over the A’s at Palm Springs Stadium. 

Max Whieldon set the table for the Chill with a fine pitching performance throwing four scoreless innings while giving up three hits and striking out seven. Masahita Morita followed that up with two scoreless innings of one-hit ball to earn the victory.

The Chill move to 7-3 on the season and stand in second place behind the ideal 7-2 Power.
