The Coachella Valley Snowbirds (2-0) shutout the Palm Desert Coyotes (1-1) 8-0 to begin the second day of action at Palm Springs Stadium. Catcher Eric Bainer was 2-for-3 with three RBI in the winning effort. Third baseman Nash Hutter laced two singles and tallied two RBI before leaving the game with a hyperextended knee injury. The trio of Seafth Howe, Wacy Sorrenson and Max Whieldon combined to scatter just three hits in seven complete innings for the Snowbirds.

The Palm Springs Chill (2-0) defeated the Canada A’s  (0-2) 9-3 as catcher Adam Seaman hit the first home run of the 2013 California Winter League season belting a majestic blast over the right field wall. Seaman finished the afternoon 3-for-3. The A’s pitching staff struggled with their command as they surrendered 10 walks, five of which came around to score.

In the third contest of the day, the Palm Springs Power (1-1) were victorious over the British Columbia Bombers (0-2) 6-2. Catcher Koby Clemens socked a RBI double and scored two runs. Designated hitter Jaren Brown swiped two stolen bases to go along with two base hits. Center fielder Anthony Kaskadden reached base in all four of his plate appearances with three hits, one RBI and one run scored. Despite the loss, first baseman Ricky Alvernaz slugged a solo homer deep down the left field line.

The final game of the day took place at Palm Springs High School. The Washington Bluesox (1-1) edged the Oregon Lumber Jacks (1-1) 4-3. Pitcher Chris Cummins earned the win as he threw four strong innings. He struck out six batters while surrendering just one run. Third baseman Nick Knull blasted a line drive home run to right field in a losing effort.
