Joseph Perrotta – who pitched for the Oregon Lumberjacks of the California Winter League this past season – was recently signed to a professional contract with the Washington Wild Things of the Freedom League. Perrotta tossed 19 innings during his time at the CWL, posting a 3.79 ERA and a 15:6 K:BB ratio.

Washington Wild Things’ manager Bart Zeller – who was managing in the CWL while Perrotta was playing – said that Perrotta had caught his eye while he was out in Palm Springs, and it made the decision to sign him that much easier once the time came.

We had a chance to catch up with Joseph after the news of the signing and he had this to say about his experience with the California Winter League, “The CWL was a great experience for me. Anybody missing out on the draft or not getting signed should definitely check out the league. [The CWL] took care of us.”

The CWL would like to congratulate Joseph Perrotta, his family, and all of the other players who were signed this off-season.
