Toronto Rush 4 – Lumberjacks 1

At the turf field, the Oregon Lumberjacks took a 1-0 lead against the Toronto Rush in the second inning, as Brad Gerig scored on a dropped third strike. The Rush tied the score in the third on an RBI single by Jeff Birkofer, then took the lead on a two-run homer by Alex Johnson in the fourth. Jeremy Holcombe tossed a complete game for the Rush, allowing just two hits and striking out eight, and the Rush punched their ticket to the semifinals with a 4-1 win.

Midwest Haymakers 2 – British Columbia Bombers 1

Box Score

The second auxiliary field saw a close battle between the British Columbia Bombers and Midwest Haymakers. Conner McCain gave the Haymakers a third-inning lead on an RBI single, and Brandon Tierney hit a solo home run in the sixth. The Bombers managed one run in the seventh, but fell short, and the Haymakers won, 2-1.

Coachella Valley Snowbirds 10 – Palm Springs Power 2

Box Score

The first game at the main stadium featured the Coachella Valley Snowbirds and the Palm Springs Power. The Snowbirds rallied for four runs in the first inning against Power starter Michael Fabrizio, including a two-run homer by Tim Quinn. The Snowbirds added two more runs in the fifth inning and four more in the sixth, and knocked the Power from the playoffs on a final score of 10-2.

Canada A’s 11 – Washington Blue Sox 5

In the final game of the day, the Canada A’s pounced on the Washington Blue Sox for a six-run first inning. The Blue Sox chipped away for runs in the second, fourth and sixth innings, but the A’s pulled away with a five-run rally in the fourth. Brandon Papera and Larry Balkwill combined to go 3-for-8 with three runs scored and three RBI for the A’s, who went on to win, 11-5.
