Canada A’s 9 – Midwest Haymakers 0

Box Score

The A’s jumped out early in the bottom of the 1st inning, scoring two runs on an RBI double by Sam Montgomery and an RBI single by Ryan Deitrich. Montgomery finished 1-for-2 with three walks, an RBI and three runs scored while Deitrich went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, two stolen bases, two RBI and two walks. The A’s would not look back as they would pound out nine runs total with two more in the 3rd and a five spot in the 4th while holding the red-hot Haymakers scoreless. Starter Drew Bradshaw threw a complete game 9-inning shutout only giving up five hits.

The game opened up in the fourth when the A’s put up a five-spot in the bottom of the inning. Titus Pierce was on the mound, but there was not much he could do as the defense stumbled behind him. The A’s offense was a total team effort, as six players had at least one hit, and every spot in the batting order reached base at least once. The A’s came in to the playoffs as the most consistent, well-balanced team and it showed as they won the sixth CWL Championship 9-0. Their final record was 14-4, while the Haymakers finished 9-9 on the season after starting 0-6.

On behalf of the California Winter League, we would like to thank all the players, coaches, fans, and staff on another spectacular season and would like to wish all the players good luck in their future career endeavors.

Congratulations once again to the Canada A’s on winning the 2015 CWL championship. See you next season.
