British Columbia Bombers @ Washington Blue Sox

The Bluesox jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning against the British Bombers without recording a hit while aided by a walk and back-to-back hit batsmen. The former Junior College World Series participant and Northwoods League player, Trevor McGee was electric over 4 innings allowing one unearned run on one hit and six strikeouts. He provided an ace-like performance while earning the opening day 3-2 victory. Vince Garcia provided an insurance RBI single in the 4th for the Bluesox that proved to be the difference.

Manitoba North Stars @ Palm Springs Chill

The Northstars and Chill entered the bottom of the 5th inning tied at 1 in an evenly matched pitchers duel. Jake Rybarski and Jeffrey Pellegrino both cashed in with RBI singles to give the Chill the lead in the 5th inning. They never looked back as the Chill cruised to a 5-1 win. Neil Uskali and Shi-Hao Tung combined to go the distance allowing just a first inning run in the 7-inning game. In near-equally impressive efforts, they combined for 11 strikeouts, one earned run while only allowing three hits.  Tomorrow is Canada Day at Palm Springs Stadium as the Manitoba Northstars will take on the British Columbia Bombers at 10am immediately followed by the Washington Blue Sox and the Canada A’s.
