Palm Springs, CA – The California Winter League saw its top offensive production of the season today throughout the three games on Monday, January 30th.

The Palm Springs Power (2-1) jumped all over the Manitoba North Stars (1-2) in game one of today’s matchups, plating four runs in the first inning. Both Tavis Brunson and Burle Dixon drove in a pair of runs with extra base hits. The Power tacked on two more runs in the third inning, thanks to Brunson’s second RBI hit of the game. The Palm Springs pitching staff gave up just two hits and struck out 16 batters in their best performance of the year, finishing on top 6-0.

Today’s turf field matchup resulted in the highest scoring game of the season. It was an 11-10 victory for the British Columbia Bombers (1-2) over the Canada A’s (2-2). The A’s jumped ahead and took an early lead in the first half of the game, scoring one run in the 1st and six runs in the 3rd. The Bombers bounced back and added six off their own in the bottom half of the 3rd to make it a 7-6 six game going into the 4th inning. The game would continue to go back and forth before the Bombers would load the bases in the final inning, eventually leading to a Scout Knotts walk-off single. Canada’s Jakob Newton paced the game, going two for four with a two-run home run. Bomber’s first baseman Matthew Holliday went two for three on the day with a home run and three runs batted in.

Monday’s finale saw Jacob Royal of the Washington Blue Sox (3-1) go four strong innings, allowing just two runs on five hits, in a 7-3 win over the Palm Springs Chill (1-3). Malcolm Smith, Michael Buchino, Taylor Maldonado and Alexander Ford all recorded multi-hit games for the Blue Sox. Washington also saw five different players drive in a run. AJ Pollack and Jeffrey Pellegrino both drove in runs for the Chill in the loss.

The California Winter League continues with three games tomorrow. The Canada A’s face the Washington Blue Sox on the turf field at 9:00 a.m. The Palm Springs Chill visit the Oregon Lumberjacks at Palm Springs Stadium at 10:00 a.m. Followed by the Alberta Grizzly against the Toronto Rush at 12:30 p.m. All games at the stadium are available live on YouTube on the California Winter League YouTube channel.
