Palm Springs, Calif. – The California Winter League continued its exciting season today with a doubleheader at Palm Springs Stadium. Fans were treated to a morning contest between the Palm Springs Power and the Alberta Grizzly, and an afternoon game featuring the British Columbia Bombers and the Washington Blue Sox.

GRIZZLY 10 – 3 POWER
The Alberta Grizzly beat the Palm Springs Power 10-3 on Thursday morning. Grizzly starter Delvis Lorenzo Muniz set the pace with five innings, holding the Power to two in 87 pitches. Both runs came across in the second inning, when five straight batters got aboard, only one of which was a hit (Robert Starr RBI double). The Grizzly scored in the first two innings, taking the lead twice. In the bottom of the second, the Grizzly started off with three straight walks issued by Power starter Huang Po-Shien, all of which scored. Grizzly took a 4-2 lead after two, a lead which they held for the remainder of the game. Five Power pitchers held the mound, three of which gave up runs. Seven of the 10 total Grizzly runs were a result of free bases (five walks and two HBP). The Power pitching staff issued a total of eight walks and three HBP, the standout stat on their final lines that led to their gradual demise. The Alberta Grizzly scored in four of the seven regulation innings, contributing to their second win of the 2025 CWL season (2-4). The Power fall to .500 (3-3) after the seven-run loss.

BOMBERS 7 – 4 BLUE SOX
The British Columbia Bombers are finally on the board in 2025, getting their first win of the season 7-4 over the Washington Blue Sox at Palm Springs Stadium. Angel Landazuri got the start for the Blue Sox, with Jordan Henke toeing the mound on the other side for the Bombers. Multiple zeroes to start the game saw the Blue Sox strike first in the bottom of the second, a Hunter Smith single scoring Shuya Funada. The Bombers would answer back in the top half, as Joshua Hoffman would single and score on an error. The top of the fifth would show the error of the Blue Sox ways – three of them in the inning to be exact. Hoffman would score again, along with Dominic Bertino and Elijah Dickerson. Hoffman would score his third run in the next inning, making it a 5-1 game due to a fourth Blue Sox error. Angel Landazuri would finish with six innings pitched, giving up ten hits and five runs but only one of them being earned due to the fielding errors. The Blue Sox would finally score again in the bottom of the sixth, Hunter Smith getting the RBI once again on a sacrifice fly off of Sebastian Encarnacion. Guang Chen would come in to pitch the seventh, giving up two more to the Bombers to make it 10-3. Eddie Javier Jr. would hit his first home run of the season and the second at Palm Springs Stadium, getting a hold of one just over the left-center field wall. Chaz Graham would come in to finish the job for the Bombers, but ran into trouble, as the errors were contagious and would spread to their defense. The miscues led to two runs, but Graham got out of the jam and gave the Bombers the win. The Bombers look to make two a streak against the Palm Springs Chill on Saturday at 10:00, while the Blue Sox look to regroup tomorrow morning against Team China at the Auxiliary field.

Friday at Palm Springs Stadium is Canada Day where general admission tickets for all Canadian residents is only $5!
