EHIME PREFECTURE, JAPAN — Former California Winter League standout Brett Flowers signed with the Ehime Mandarin Pirates of the Shikoku Island League in Japan.

Flowers is currently hitting .270 (38-for-141) with 17 RBIs in 39 games in the cleanup spot for the Mandarin Pirates and his average has been improving as he becomes more familiar with his surroundings.

His manager, Osamu Hoshino, is counting on him as a hitter and hopes he can elevate the team’s offense en route to a Shikoku Island League Championship.

Pirates Team President Isao Yakushijin said:  “I am happy to have Flo [Brett Flowers] on the team because of his baseball experiences and great personality. He is respectable to the culture and people in Ehime pref.”

Flowers played in the CWL in 2011 where he hit .378 with five doubles and led his team with 16 RBIs.
