2024 California Winter League Instructors

Moss has served as the CWL Field Coordinator since 2013 ans has been a Special Assignment Scout with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He has worked for the Dodgers since 2009 and was asked to serve on the Amateur Selection Committee for USA Baseball. As a player, Moss played eight seasons of MLB affiliated ball with the Cincinnati Reds and Toronto Blue Jays.

Kloppe is a former 2013 CWL player who is currently the Pitching Coach for the Lincoln Salt Dogs in the American Association. Bryan has managed in Australia at the pro level and previously coached in the Pioneer League and the USPBL. 2024 marks Kloppe’s second season as a CWL instructor.

Cliburn is the manager of the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs in the Atlantic League. He previously managed the Triple-A Affililiate of the Minnesota Twins, the Rochester Red Wings, from 2006-2009 and has also managed in the MLB Arizona Fall League. In 2021, he was named Atlantic League Manager of the Year. 2024 is Stan’s eleventh California Winter League season.

Vaeth manages the Washington Wild Things of the Frontier League and has held that position since 2021. In his first season, he took the Wild Things to the league Championship Series with a record of 50-46. He is currently signed through 2025 and is looking to secure a Championship in the coming years. Previously, Tom spent 17 years with the Winnipeg Goldeyes of the American Association as a coach.

Noce currently serves as the Field Coordinator in the United Shores Professional Baseball League. Noce was the manager of the East Side Diamond Hoppers from 2016 until stepping down to take on the role with the league. He has been in the game for over 35 years including two MLB stints as a player with the Cubs and Reds. 2024 is Paul’s 6th CWL season

JJ currently serves as the Director of Scouting for the Boise Hawks in the Pioneer League. Johnson previously managed the Grand Junction Rockiers (now Jackalopes). Johnson played seven seasons in the Houston Astros’ organization and has managed and been a coordinator at the minor league level. He was the hitting coordinator for Team China at the 2017 World Baseball Classic and served as the hitting coordinator for the Colorado Rockies from 2002-2012.

Casey is currently the Player Procurement Coordinator for the Tri-City Valley Cats of the Frontier League. At the CWL, he will help scouts and managers evaluate players to help find the best fit. Dill has scouted and recruited hundreds of players at the pro and college levels and manages the Palm Springs Power in the summertime.

Brown returns to the CWL for his ninth season in 2024. Bobby has 20+ years of professional baseball experience as a player, coach, scout and manager. He played for the Kansas City Royals organization in 1997 before playing in the Frontier League in 1998 where he hit .363 with 9 home runs and 63 RBI with Canton. Brown currently manages the Ottawa Titans in the Frontier League.

McLaren is a former MLB Manager with the Seattle Mariners and Washington Nationals. He was a member of the coaching staff at the highest level of baseball in five other big league franchises. In 2024, McLaren will manage the Dubai Wolves in Baseball United, a professional baseball league in the Middle East and South Asia. 2024 is McLaren’s first season with the CWL.

Jared Lemieux was named Manager of the Lake Erie Crushers for the 2023 season, with 2024 marking his second year with the club. Previously, Lemieux was on the coaching staff of the New Jersey Jackals. 2024 is Lemieux’s second season managing at the California Winter League.
