Oregon Lumberjacks 13 – Palm Springs Chill 2

PALM SPRINGS, Calif.- The 1st game of the day on the Auxiliary field featured a dominating offensive game by the Oregon Lumberjacks after they had a day off yesterday defeating the Palm Springs Chill. The Jacks got to Chill starter Daiki Matsui for 4 runs in the first 2 innings and had a 6-1 lead heading into the bottom of the 6th. Oregon would continue its offensive splurge with a 7-run inning capped off by a 3 run Home Run by center fielder Tillman Pugh to give them a 13-1 lead while he finished the game 3-5 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored. The Jacks eventually sealed the game winning it 13-2 and improved their record to 1-1 while the Chill fell to 1-2.

 

Coachella Valley Snowbirds 2 – Toronto Rush 0

Runs came at a premium at the high school field as Coachella Valley Snowbirds (1-2) pitchers Ryan Bunger and Charlie Glenn combined for a one-hit shutout of the Toronto Rush (2-1). RBI singles by Alan Cheatham and Sean Washington accounted for the only two runs of the game. Zach Wendorf took the hard-luck loss for the Rush, allowing just two runs through 4.2 innings, and the Snowbirds came out on top, 2-0.

 

British Columbia Bombers 6 – Alberta Grizzly 4

Joseph Zrinzo pitched the first complete game of the 2015 California Winter League season en route to a 6-4, British Columbia Bombers’ victory over the Alberta Grizzly, Saturday afternoon at Palm Springs Stadium.

Zrinzo (1-0) fell behind early to the Grizzly, but was able to minimize the damage throughout the game and give his team a chance at a comeback. The righty would allow four runs- two earned- on five hits and a walk to go along with six strikeouts.

The Bombers (2-1) put up two runs in both the fifth and sixth to erase a 4-2 deficit, with Michael Hur driving in the winning run with an RBI double.

 

Palm Springs Power 9 – Canada A’s 8

Box Score

The final afternoon Game at Palm Springs featured a back-and-forth contest between the Palm Springs Power and the Canada A’s. The A’s got early scoring in the first and second inning putting up four runs and three runs respectively. However, the Power would not go away as they chipped away at the A’s’ lead to bring themselves to a 7-6 deficit heading into the top of the 6th. The Power then broke out for three runs in the top of the 6th taking advantage of three wild pitches by A’s pitcher Garrett Bolt that gave them a 9-7 lead. The Power would hang on to defeat the A’s 9-8 and the sole owners of 1st place in the CWL standings.
