Game 1 Chill @ Power

Vinny St. John and two relievers combined on a six-hit shutout as the Chill knocked off the undefeated Power 6-0 in the morning game at Palm Springs Stadium.

St. John, making his first start of the season, surrendered two singles and did not allow a Power base runner past first base in his four innings of work.

The offense for the Chill came in the top of the second when starting pitcher for the Power, Charles Nading, walked four of the first five batters and Dan Treccia and Lyle Allen each followed with RBI singles.

The Power suffered their first loss of the 2012 California Winter League season.  Both teams are now 3-1 and tied for the lead in the CWL.

Game 2 A’s @ Blue Sox

Matt Grosso continued his hot hitting with a clutch RBI triple as the Bluesox avoided their fifth loss of the California Winter League season, forging a 2-2 tie against the A’s at Palm Springs Stadium.

Both teams scored their runs in the third inning.  Power pitchers Ryan Barrett and Brian Wilde held the Bluesox scoreless for the last four innings of the game.

Four Bluesox pitchers limited the A’s to two unearned runs on just three hits.  Aside from the A’s two-run third, no A’s runner managed to advance past first base.

The teams did not play beyond the seventh inning due to pitching shortages on both sides.
