The Palm Springs Chill (1-0) defeated the Washington Bluesox (0-1) 8-1 in the first game of the 2013 California Winter League season from Palm Springs Stadium. Designated hitter Ladarrius Cole catapulted the Chill to victory as he tallied two doubles and drove in two runs while scoring a run of his own. Third baseman Yuki Yasuda registered two hits and left fielder Alex Heumann collected two RBI in the winning effort.

In game two of the day the Palm Desert Coyotes (1-0) blanked the Palm Springs Power (0-1) 5-0. The Coyotes pitching staff was stellar as they only scattered two hits the entire game while striking out six batters as a staff. Pinch hitter Bobby Hillier provided key insurance runs in the sixth inning as he socked a two RBI double down the left field line.

The Coachella Valley Snowbirds (1-0) crushed the Canada A’s (0-1) 8-1 in the third contest of the day. The Snowbirds had a complete team performance as seven different players scored runs and four different hitters tallied at least one RBI.

In the finale, the Oregon Lumber Jacks (1-0) edged the British Columbia Bombers (0-1) 3-1. Pitcher Troy Marks led the way for the Lumber Jacks as he hurled two scoreless innings. Five of his six recorded outs were strikeouts. Center fielder Bobby Martin was the catalyst for the Lumber Jacks as he went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
