PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – Regular season play in the Frontier League has ended with the 2017 playoffs underway, and with that brings awards season. The California Winter League is proud to announce that two former players in Kyano Cummings and Max Duval, as well as manager Jamie Bennett earned Frontier League accolades this year.

Kyano Cummings pitched for the CWL last season out of Siena College, making 13 relief appearances and pitching 19 1/3 innings. Cummings sported a sparkling 1.08 ERA with a 26/2 K/BB ratio and recorded 4 saves. This season with the Evansville Otters, Cummings was named the Frontier League’s Rookie of the Year, throwing 79 innings and posting a 1.82 ERA with 7 saves and 58 strikeouts.

Max Duval earned the Frontier League’s Pitcher of the Year Award this season after going 8-2 with a 2.28 ERA in 14 starts for the Evansville Otters. Duval pitched in the CWL in 2014, making 9 appearances including 4 starts, going 4-0 with a dazzling 1.75 ERA in 25 2/3 innings pitched. He also sported a 38/5 K/BB ratio, earning a contract with the Schaumburg Boomers at the conclusion of the 2014 CWL season.

Jamie Bennett managed the Frontier League’s Schaumburg Boomers to a league-best 66-30 record to secure the Manager of the Year Award. Bennett is an instructor and manager for the CWL and we are proud of his, and all of our former players/coaches success this year!
