PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – The California Winter League is proud to announce their ninth season in operation, providing an opportunity for players with big league dreams to earn a contract and pave their own path to the top. Since 2010, over 600 contracts have been offered to those players who come out to Southern California to participate. The CWL and our staff take pride in the success stories that have been created for those players who never give up, and would like to recognize the top 10 former CWLers of the 2017 season.

#7 – d’AUNDRAY VAN SLYKE

d’Aundray Van Slyke attended the CWL last January and was awarded for his efforts, earning a contract with the Plattsburgh Redbirds of the Empire Pro League.

Van Slyke is a 24-year old from Vaughn, Washington and most recently played at Pierce College in Washington.

He came to the California Winter League in search of a contract to continue his career, and after hitting .343 with 2 homers, 12 RBI and 7 stolen bases in 17 games with the Oregon Lumberjacks, was offered a contract with the Plattsburgh Redbirds of the Empire Pro League for 2017.

The 6’0″, 225-pound outfielder reported to Plattsburgh and put up a .273/.341/.527 line to go along with 2 homers, 21 RBI and 4 stolen bases in 123 plate appearances for the Redbirds.
