Palm Springs Chill Claim Blow-Out Victory Over Canada A’s

The Palm Spring Chill (5-7) easily dispatched the Canada A’s (2-11) winning 9-1 on Monday.

In the second inning, the Palm Springs Chill got their offense started when Lenny Pietersz grounded out, scoring one run.

The Chill put up four runs in the third thanks to a Shao-Pin Ho home run and a double by Blake Porter.

Juan Martinez started and led the Chill to victory allowing no runs on two hits over six innings, striking out six and walking zero. Hokuto Kanai the one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Kunimasa Suzuki took the loss for the Canada A’s allowing five hits and seven runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out one. Kyle Armsworthy came in relief pitching two innings allowing four hits, two runs allowing one walk and striking out one.

 

Nicholas Giambalvo Hits for History at Palm Springs Stadium

The Alberta Grizzly (5-6-1) lost to the Oregon Lumberjacks (7-6) 12-10 on Monday.

The Jacks owe a lot to Nicholas Giambalvo after he went 5-5 hitting for the cycle! Giambalvo started the scoring affair in the first inning with an RBI triple. In the second inning he would hit an RBI double to give the Jacks a 4-0 lead.

He would then hit a single in the fourth and another single in the fifth that would score another run putting them over the Grizzly 11-8. Leading off the seventh inning, he hit a home run over the left-center field wall to earn the cycle and put the Jacks ahead 12-9.

Jack Silva pitched Oregon to victory, throwing 119 pitches in six innings, allowing nine runs on seven hits, punching out seven batters. Adrian Sanchez threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen allowing one run.

Mitchell Senger started the game for the Grizzly allowing six runs on four hits over three innings, striking out six. Nick Kreutzer took the loss for the Grizzly allowing nine hits and five runs over one inning, striking out two.

Giambalvo is the first player this season to go 5-5 and hit for the cycle.
