PALM SPRINGS, Calif – The Frontier League began its 29th season last night, May 12th. Since 2015, the California Winter League has been the Official Winter League of the Frontier League. During that span, over 250 CWL players have signed a Frontier League contract. The Frontier League is an Official MLB Partner League, meaning that while players are not under contract to any specific MLB organization, the league is considered near the top of the independent professional ranks and is scouted heavily. Traditionally, the Frontier League has sent more players to MLB organizations over the course of its season than other professional independent leagues. CWL players who sign with Frontier League teams are guaranteed to stick until at least the end of spring training, giving them the best opportunity to crack an opening day roster.
