Palm Springs, Calif. – Day three of the 2024 California Winter League (CWL) season featured an abundance of offense with 30 runs scored over three games. On the auxiliary field, a high scoring affair ended with the Alberta Grizzly outlasting the British Columbia Bombers 10-7. At Palm Springs Stadium, the Palm Springs Chill shined in their 8-2 victory over the Oregon Lumberjacks. MLB Development Center (DC) China concluded the day with a 3-0 shutout over the Canada A’s.

British Columbia Bombers @ Alberta Grizzly

The Bombers and Grizzly battled back and forth in a high scoring matchup. The teams combined for 19 runs on 20 combined hits. Alan Goodwin clobbered a three run home run for his second homer of the winter- part of a four run third for the Bombers. The Grizzly offense then came back swinging as Tate Wargo, Ben Gbur, and Clayton Loranger keyed five runs over the final three innings. The Grizzly would go on to win 11-8.

Oregon Lumberjacks @ Palm Springs Chill

Palm Springs opened the scoring with a two RBI triple from Daniel Crossen in the third inning. The Chill’s leadoff batter Michael Temple led Palm Springs with a three for three day alongside two stolen bases, two runs, and an RBI. The Lumberjacks scraped across a couple of runs in the fifth and sixth innings with the help of two balks but the Chill cruised to an 8-2 victory.

MLB DC China @ Canada A’s

MLB DC China excelled for their second win of the season allowing just four hits in a 3-0 win over the Canada A’s. MLB China’s three pitchers Zhang Mingxuan, Zhao Lun and He Xin combined for 10 strikeouts. Duo Jie Geng Zhi knocked in the go-ahead two RBI double in the fifth. He scored the game’s third and final run as part of a three run fifth. Canada’s two pitchers Kent Evans Jr. and Brett Elmer combined for 11 combined strikeouts and allowed just three hits.

The CWL continues on Sunday with Family Day at Palm Springs Stadium as the British Columbia Bombers take on the Oregon Lumberjacks at 10 AMfollowed by the Palm Springs Power and the Washington Blue Sox battling at 12:30 PM. Kids 12 and under have free admission into the ballpark along with five dollar discounted tickets for adults and seniors as part of Family Day presented by Jack in the Box.
