Palm Springs, Calif. – The California Winter League (CWL) continued Thursday with a full slate of four games for the second consecutive day. The Washington Blue Sox remained the hottest team in the league with a 13-3 win over the Palm Springs Power. The Palm Springs Chill outlasted the British Columbia Bombers 4-2 while the Oregon Lumberjacks’ pitching shined in a 3-1 win over the Alberta Grizzly. MLB DC China finished the day with a 2-1 win over the Canada A’s.

Washington Blue Sox @ Palm Springs Power

The Blue Sox (7-2) won their seventh consecutive game with a convincing 13-3 victory over the Palm Springs Power (4-5-1.) Washington received hits from eight of nine starters on the way to 15 hits. Alejandro Lara led the way with four RBIs on two hits. The UC Davis product leads the CWL with a .529 BA in seven games played. Trevor McGee earned the win for the Blue Sox with eight strikeouts over a five inning start allowing just one run.

Palm Springs Chill @ British Columbia Bombers

The Chill (5-5-1) defeated the Bombers (5-4-1) 4-2. Danny Crossen scored key runs for Palm Springs in the fifth and sixth innings. He recorded three hits to lead the Chill offensively. Zachary Trangmar and Cale Jones each drew bases-loaded walks in the fifth to give the Chill the lead. Mikito Barkman earned the win on the mound after working the first five innings. He allowed two earned runs on seven hits while striking out four Bombers.

Oregon Lumberjacks @ Alberta Grizzly

The Lumberjacks (6-4) scored three runs in the fourth inning to take down the Grizzly (6-5) 3-1. Koby Edwards had the winning hit for Oregon with a two-run double to cap the fourth inning rally. Angel Landazuri shut the league leading Alberta offense down over the first five innings on the mound. He earned the win allowing one earned run with five strikeouts.

Canada A’s @ MLB DC China

MLB China (3-8) snapped their seven-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory over the A’s (3-6). Liu Wenjie opened the scoring with a double in the first inning. Lin Ziquiang followed Wenjie with an RBI single. Zhang He earned the win after pitching the first three innings while allowing a single earned run. Lun Zhao finished the game on the mound over the final four innings. The two MLB China pitchers combined for eight strikeouts with just six hits.

The California Winter League continues on Friday with Canada Day. All Canadian residents receive discounted five dollar admission. The Oregon Lumberjacks will face the Alberta Grizzly at 10 AMbefore the Canada A’s battle MLB DC China at 12:30 PM at Palm Springs Stadium.
