The British Columbia Bombers defeated the Palm Springs Chill 5-4 Thursday morning on the auxiliary field. The Bombers have taken down the Chill in back-to-back games following Wednesday’s 13-10 victory. The Chill led 4-0 entering the bottom of the fourth inning before the Bombers mounted a comeback. British Columbia scored two runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth to take a 5-4 lead, highlighted by Mason Baronian’s two-RBI single. Bombers manager Stan Cliburn received five innings from starter Elijah Mayer before Jacob Schlesselman closed the door. Schlesselman pitched the final two innings, allowing one hit and striking out three. He also went 1-for-3 at the plate with a run scored. Chill starter Justin Charles was sharp despite working on short rest. He tossed three scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out two. Designated hitter Caden Kirker led the Chill offensively, going 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. The Bombers improve to 5-7 and face the Canada A’s at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Palm Springs Stadium. The Chill drop to 4-8 and are idle Friday before taking on the Manitoba North Stars Saturday morning at Palm Springs Stadium.
The Oregon Lumberjacks and Alberta Grizzly faced off in the first stadium game on Thursday. The Grizzly turned to Richie Amavizca on the mound who got tagged by the Lumberjacks with three runs in the first inning. The entire Jacks lineup was hot against every pitcher the Grizzly sent out, scoring at least one run against all of them. Nic Rivas was the starter for the Jacks and delivered four solid innings and recorded the win in a 13-6 final. The Jacks will face the Northstars at 10am on Friday at Palm Springs Stadium. The Grizzly will head to the auxiliary field to face the Blue Sox on Friday at 9:30am.
Thursday’s final game was a 12-1 win for the Canada A’s over the Palm Springs Power. Scoring double digits for the second time in as many games, the A’s (4-7) collected 12 hits and stood behind a strong outing from reliever Dominick Castillo. The left-hander pitched the final five innings, allowing just one run on five hits. A’s catcher Jordan Singleton finished with four hits and three runs scored. After a home run two days ago, Kevon Jackson scored two with a triple. Remy Heckman, Westley Hogan and Taylor all had two hits for the A’s. Power (5-7) starter Austin Turley was tagged with the loss after he allowed seven total runs, with three coming around in the second inning and four more in the fifth. Palm Springs’ only run came on an RBI single from Jaden Sheppard, who finished with two hits. The A’s will play Friday at 12:30 p.m. against the British Columbia Bombers. The Power will have Friday off but face the Oregon Lumberjacks at the stadium on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
