The California Winter League action continued on day three of the season. Game 1 at Palm Springs Stadium was the Oregon Lumberjacks facing the Toronto Rush. Game 2 featured the Canada A’s and the Palm Springs Power.
In game 1, Jared Burch pitched four scoreless innings for Toronto. He recorded 10 strikeouts and only gave up 2 hits and 1 walk. The rush scored a run in the first, second and fifth innings. The Lumberjacks got on the board in the sixth, but were unable to complete the comeback. Toronto Rush defeated the Oregon Lumberjacks 3-1.
In game 2, the A’s scored right away with two runs in the first inning. It was scoreless after that until the fifth inning when both the A’s and the Power scored a run each. The A’s were leading 3-1 until the sixth when they tacked on an insurance run. The A’s beat the power 4-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The California Winter League continues tomorrow with three games. The British Columbia Bombers face the Manitoba North Stars on the turf field at 9:00 a.m. The Toronto Rush take on the Oregon Lumberjacks at Palm Springs Stadium at 10:00 a.m. The Alberta Grizzly will play Palm Springs Chill at 12:30 p.m. at Palm Springs Stadium.
