PALM SPRINGS, Calif – The California Winter League action continued on day 6 of the season. The turf field featured the Canada A’s (2-2) playing the Washington Blue Sox (3-1). Game 1 at Palm Springs Stadium was the Palm Springs Chill (1-1) facing the Oregon Lumberjacks (1-2). Game 2 featured the Alberta Grizzly (2-1) and the Toronto Rush (2-1).

In the turf game, The A’s jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning. In the middle innings, the A’s bats exploded for seven runs. That included a three-run homerun in the top of the 6th by Center Fielder Anthony Flores. The Blue Sox were able to get on the board with two runs in the bottom of the 7th. The A’s edged out the Blue Sox 8-2.

In game 1 at the stadium, the Lumberjacks went out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning. The Lumberjacks had a 7-0 lead until the Chill scored two in the 4th. The Oregon Lumberjacks had a big offensive day recording 11 hits and 11 runs. Oregon defeated Palm Springs 11-5.

In game 2 at Palm Springs Stadium, the Rush took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Backed by stellar pitching, the Rush never looked back. The Rush tacked on a run in the 4th and 6th. The Toronto Rush took the game vs the Alberta Grizzly 4-0. Alec Pascale pitched 6.0 scoreless innings giving up just 5 hits and recorded 6 punchouts. Pascale’s ERA moves to 0.63.

The California Winter League continues tomorrow with four games. The Toronto Rush face the Manitoba North Stars on the turf field at 9:00 a.m. The Alberta Grizzly take on the Palm Springs Power at Palm Springs Stadium at 10:00 a.m. The second turf game at 11:30 a.m. features the Washington Blue Sox and the Oregon Lumberjacks. The British Columbia Bombers will play the Canada A’s at 12:30 p.m. at Palm Springs Stadium.
